Thanksgiving & Childhood Cancer

I hope that everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving this year. It is a very special time to spend with your family and loved ones, so I hope you had the opportunity to do so. Bob and I began our day early by going to Bob's grandmothers. The whole family attend Thanksgiving dinner at grand mom's. We had an early dinner followed by a delicious desert of Apple, pumpkin and sweet potato pies and some home made pumpkin cheesecake. Then Bob and I headed out early to go visit Rhiannon at Saint Christopher's Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Rhiannon is my thirteen year old niece, the daughter of my only sister. Last year during my daily meditation my grandmother came to me. I was surprised for it has been so long since I have connected with my grandmother. My grandmother told me she was concerned for my sister and I needed to be there for her. Having no idea what she meant I asked her what the concern was all about. All I heard was the word cancer and then my grand mother disappeared.

All my grandmother did was confuse and worry me. I'm not as close to my sister as I was back in the day, so I was lost on what I should do. I began calling her more frequently to bond with her a little more. I really was not sure how to mention my grandmother's visit to her, so I didn't. I waited a while and then it was too late. In June of 2006 twelve year old Rhiannon became sick. Soon after she was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma.

Rhabdomyosarcoma is the most common of the soft tissue sarcomas in children. These tumours develop from muscle or fibrous tissue and can grow in any part of the body. The most common areas of the body to be affected are around the head and neck, the bladder, or the testes. Sometimes tumours are also found in a muscle or a limb, in the chest, or in the abdominal wall.

The causes of rhabdomyosarcoma are unknown. Research is going on all the time into possible causes of this disease. Children with certain rare genetic disorders, such as Li Fraumeni syndrome, have a higher risk of developing rhabdomyosarcoma.

Treatment depends upon the size of the tumour, its position within the body, and whether it has spread. Treatment of rhabdomyosarcoma usually includes surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy, or a combination of these.

Surgery

If at all possible, surgery will be used to remove the tumour. Chemotherapy, using a combination of drugs, is often given before surgery to shrink the tumour. Radiotherapy may also be given to the area of the tumour, particularly if it cannot be completely removed by surgery.

Chemotherapy

If the tumour cannot be removed with surgery, treatment will usually involve a combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Chemotherapy is the use of anti-cancer (cytotoxic) drugs to destroy cancer cells and is usually given every three weeks.

Radiotherapy

Radiotherapy treats cancer by using high-energy rays that destroy the cancer cells, while doing as little harm as possible to normal cells. It is given to the area where the rhabdomyosarcoma occurs.

Rhiannon was treated with all of the above methods with the exception of surgery. The tumor dissolved and the cancer was undetectable. After six months of extreme cancer treatments Rhiannon was sent home with a clean bill of health. The first tumor was located in her upper leg and caused severe pain and affected her walking. Recently Rhiannon became sick once again and is now back in the hospital. Another tumor was found, this time between her kidneys and a main artery. She is undergoing more chemo. and can not receive any more radiation during this round.

Rhiannon is very high spirited and remains very strong. We visited her on Thanksgiving and she seemed to be her normal self, which is good. She enjoyed her Thanksgiving dinner and ever came back for seconds. Bob and I hung out with Rhiannon and my sister for a few hours taking pictures and trying to bring some cheer to the room. It was odd that some of the pictures of Rhiannon and I would not turn out without weird bright lights surrounding us. Coincidence? Bad Lighting? Or Angels watching over Rhiannon and all the children within the hospital.

Thanksgiving dinner was prepared by a family who lost their 8 year old son last year from cancer. The woman recognized me soon as we walked into the hospital from America' Psychic Challenge. She became overwhelmed with excitement when she saw me come through the doors telling everyone in listening distance who I was.
Her and her husband worked hard in the kitchen cooking Thanksgiving dinner for all the kids in the hospital.

I was touched by her ability to move forward so quickly after loosing her eight yea
r old son Frankie to cancer only eight months ago. She said she spent so much time in the hospital with Frankie that her and her husband felt they needed to give back. They have set out to help other children suffering from cancer and their families. What a wonderful thing to do for others. I wanted to pull them aside to give them a reading but it did not feel appropriate to me.

Beings it was a holiday and we were in a hospital I decided it was not the time or place. I'm sure I will have that opportunity in the near future.
There are so many children out there suffering from cancer that could use some support. With the holiday's approaching it make for a perfect time to help out others in need. I know we are going to be bringing some toys to the kids in St. Christopher's this holiday season.

Please visit the web sites below to read about or to support Rhiannon and Frankie's family. Ever a simply email can make a child or family smile. With Love And Light.....JOSEPH

Detectives and finding the missing

It has been a little while since I had a chance to write in the blog. I'm short in time this evening, but wanted to write a little something. I have had an interesting week to say the least. Today I had a young lady come for a private session who seemed a bit distraught. She could not find her cell phone and it was a must have thing for work. I mentioned to look in the car, she replied that she had looked there already. Maybe that was what I was picking up on. Then I told her if it was not there then she would find it at home on the kitchen table. About 30 minutes later she called and told Bob that the phone was on the table.

Even though I was able to tell a client exactly where to find her phone, it was about to be quite different for the next client. This gentlemen came to me specifically to help him find something a little more important then just a phone. He was here to get a little in sight on where he should look for his missing son. As you can imagine, this was quite nerve racking for me. I'm not one to enjoy being the bearer of bad news. I had no idea what to expect until I went into the reading. I'm happy to say that I had some good news for the worried father. I did feel that his son is still alive, but in a bit of a jam.

Many of the things that I told the gentlemen he was aware of, some things he felt, and others would help him locate his son. Information that I gave the gentlemen included that his son was set up, his wallet stolen, he was most likely in jail and was trying to contact his father, but could not. His son is in Mexico, where he was set up and thrown in a local jail. There are no more details that I would like to disclose. I was very happy to be able to help this gentlemen locate his son and extremely happy that I felt his son would eventually be located and come back to the states.

After the murder scene on America's Psychic Challenge I knew that I would end up working on many murder cases and missing people cases. You may have read about the messages I gave to Philadelphia police detective about the case of the murder police officer. I was almost sure that the police would at least contact me to let me know the information helped them. Maybe because I'm psychic they think I already know. :-) I hope they contact me i the future to help them with cases.

Today I was actually contacted by a police detective who has been working on a homicide case. He saw the TV show and was very impressed with the information I provided. The detective is a bit far from me, but I offered my to help out. He did ask what my fee would be for help with the case. When it comes to something like this I'm honored that he even asked for my assistance. In that case I'm more then happy to offer that assistance and would not consider charging any fee. If it comes to do anything for the police or fire department, I'm here for you.

I'm very excited about the new radio show starting November 27th. It will be fun to take calls and do short readings over the air. I decided to take the show to another level and not just focus on my work. I thought it would make the show more interesting if I brought others onto the show for interviews about their work. So at least once per month I will focus on interviewing other well known psychics and mediums. Lisa William's will be my first guest on December 11. Be sure to tune in.

Validating Information

Finally the Mercury Retrograde has come to a close and things will begin to run smoothly. Mercury went out with a big bang, as it always does. The retrograde ended on November 1st, but you could feel the effect until the 4Th. Now is a good time to start new things, a new business, new job or even purchase a new home. It is also a good time to start your holiday shopping and get a check up from the doctor.

Most of you have heard about the tragic murder of Philadelphia Police Officer Chuck Cassidy. If you keep up with the blog you know that I contacted the police about this case. I have never contacted the police about a case before. I feel that if they want my assistance, they can contact me. For some reason I could not sleep all night because of this case. So much information was coming to me that I felt I needed to do something about it, so I did.

I did post some of the information that I gave them and kept a few other things confidential. Well after seeing the news last night I was completely stunned to find out the murderers name, John. John was one of the two names that I gave the detective while talking on the phone. Another thing I told the detective was that he was mixing in with the homeless. I told her they needed to look in places where the homeless gather. I was also getting a subway being significant in some way or another. There was a list of information that I provided to the police detective. She was very open to receiving my information and thanked me for my help. It so surreal to me that the Murderers name is John and they now caught him in a homeless shelter. I certainly hope the information I gave the police actually helped them to catch this horrible person. Now I hope the police will contact me again in the future to help them out.

This past weekend I had several group sessions. There was one particular connection that I found to be really interesting. My energy was directed on one woman in the group. While I was bringing through messages from her father in law, the connection took a strange turn. A young mother figure who passed from multiple complications began to connect. At first there was not one person in the group that understood this connection, including the woman I was focused on. The I mentioned to her that I was seeing adoption papers. This immediately brought out some emotions in the woman. She knew exactly what I was talking about.

My connection with the young woman became stronger as she described in detail what she was going through prior to her passing. She suffered from severe addiction, living on the streets and doing what she had to in order for survival. She became pregnant and wanted the best for her baby. The baby meant so much to her that she claimed to have remained clean of drugs during the pregnancy. The child was born and she slipped into a deep depression and went back to using. Then she gave the child up for adoption and later passed from an over dose of drugs.

She was coming through for one of the women in the group. She wanted to thank her for taking care of her child. Even though the woman in the group had no idea who the mother of the child is, the mother knew who she was. The woman is in the process of finalizing the adoption and this confirmed that it would happen soon. This also shows how connected we all are. Even if your adopted, your birth mother is always with you.

I just sent out an email about my upcoming event at Ashes To Ashes Cigar Shop in Bordentown New Jersey. This is a great little place that holds up to 30 guests. You can read more about the event on the web site. I'm excited to start the new radio show in a few weeks. I included information about the radio show on the web site and in today's email. If you did not get the email and would like to be included on the mailing list, send an email to: mailing@spiritmanjoseph.com.

Don't forget to watch America's Psychic Challenge on Friday November 16 at 10 PM on Lifetime. If you missed the last episodes and have Comcast Cable, you can on demand the show. You can also watch it in this blog and Lifetime Televisions web site. Till the next time, Love And Light....JOSEPH
